Jesus rode in on a donkey. The people praised his return. Many of his followers were present. They had watched him perform miracles. They witnessed him raising the dead and feeding the thousands with only two loaves of bread. They rejoiced for his return.
Yet others did not believe in Him. The religious leaders of the day, the Pharisees, wanted to stop him.
This was Palm Sunday over two thousand years ago. Today we celebrate with palms as a reminder. and many Catholics reenact the stations of the cross as Easter Sunday draws near.
Christians believe in the awesome power of the resurrection and eagerly await for Jesus' return.
Until that time comes, we live on this earth doing the best we can. We sing our songs of worship; we pray our daily prayers; and we try to live a righteous life.
Yet we cannot do any of these things on our own. We have to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us which enables us and intercedes for us.
We are reminded of this during Holy Week.
As we draw nearer to God, as we hear the sermons in common messages, our spirits are fueled.
D.L. Moody once said, "It is folly for any man to attempt to fight in his own strength. The world, the flesh and the devil are too much for any man. But if we are linked to Christ by faith, and He is formed in us the hope of glory, then we shall get the victory over every enemy. It is believers who are the over comers. "Thanks be to God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ." Through Him we shall be more than conquerors."
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week. May the message of Christ's resurrection and glory fuel your spirit. Remember you are more than conquerors.
