Finding Encouragement During the Holidays

Have you ever had a person in your life that was an encourager? Perhaps you have a friendship with someone who gives you gentle encouragement.

Finding encouragement during the Holidays settles your spirit. There is added stress during the Holidays. The hustle and bustle of shopping, traffic, and crowds leave even the most prepared exhausted and overwhelmed.

Stress and anxiety starts to build up as Christmas day approaches. So much to do and so little time. Standing in long lines, dealing with irritable shoppers cause even more stress.

How do you handle it? Do you go home, put your feet up and pour yourself a glass of wine? Ah, finding time to relax during the Holidays. Yes, it is important to de-stress. Give yourself a break, spend time to relax and pick up your feet.

Getting together with family and friends can be stressful as well. So many expectations occur during Holiday gatherings. When you are in the crowds, when you are attending parties, do you have someone there with you? Do you feel alone in the group? Is there an encourager in your group of friends?

Reach out to them. The encouragers in your life are the blessings in your life. They pick you up when you fall down.

They offer an encouraging word or a gentle nudge when you need it. These encouragers give you a hug when you didn't expect one. They are gentle in spirit and keep good company. They help you, and inspire you, to be a better person.

They believe in you and most of all these encouragers bless your life tremendously.

If you have such a person in your life, give God thanks. If you do not, ask God to bring an encourager in your life.
Encouragers are often overlooked. Listen to the words they speak. Watch the actions they take. Perhaps, just maybe, you already have an encourager in your midst.
