Are you facing a crossroads? Uncertain about what you should do? |
Worry over a particular outcome causes stress and anxiety in life. Everyone tells you not to worry about it. If you have faith, it will work itself out. Easier said than done. While most people telling you have good intentions, it doesn't erase the fact the situation is stressing you out. So how do you deal with it?
In a recent lecture given by Joyce Meyer, she said, "Don't let your feelings determine your actions." Essentially she was teaching about operating under great emotional distress. Don't let your feelings get in the way of God's will for your life. When you operate out of emotion, in this case uncertainty, you tend to do just what you feel. Instead of thinking things through, you go with what your emotional senses tell you.
Uncertainty creates a sense of urgency in your heart. When you are uncertain, your tendency is to try and control the outcome. If the situation or circumstance you are facing is very important to you, then the urgency is greater.
Waiting on the Lord is difficult during the good times but it's even harder during those rough patches. Spend time reading scripture. Ask for wisdom and direction in your circumstance. When you feel the rise of emotional waves caused by uncertainty, pause and reflect. Ask God to show you what to do next. Take a moment, step away from the situation, and meditate on God's word. He will lead you out of the chaos. He will bring peace to your soul.
When you feel anxious over the situation you are facing, do nothing. Wait for the peace of God's desire to work in your life.
Soon the uncertainty will develop into a knowing. That knowledge leads to wisdom, for the decisions you make today will produce the outcome of your future.
