Leap Day Begins a New Chapter in My Life

Leap Day comes but once every four years. What does that mean to me? Well it's a milestone. For me, it's about how good God has been to me. He has blessed me in many ways.
If one looks back every four years and can say, 'this is what God has done for me,' they may see prayers answered, problems adverted, or reasons why certain things had to happen.

I have failed plenty of times in life, but the mighty God I serve, is a God of second chances. He continues forgiving me and picking me back up when I fall.

In Deuteronomy 10, Moses delivered the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel a second time.

After the people of Israel failed to obey God, Moses destroyed the first set of tablets. The word, Deuteronomy means, "repetition of the law".

As Moses stayed on the mountain for forty days and nights, the Lord listened to his prayers. The prayer of a righteous man is a mighty prayer indeed.

God instructed Moses to return to his people and lead them on their journey. The Bible says, "And the Lord said to me, 'Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, so that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them,'" Deuteronomy 10:11.

This began a new chapter for the people of Israel. As they quickly forgot how God had provided for them; bringing them out of captivity, saving them from Pharaoh and his men. They still failed many times.

On Leap Day, it's a good time for reflection.

Looking at the last four years and recalling those milestones. Understanding the path God has led you down to keep you from going astray.

What does God expect in return? Going back to the story found in Deuteronomy 10, Moses had this to say, "And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you?"

In Deuteronomy 10: 12-13, Moses gives these five instructions:
  1. Fear the Lord your God (Hold Him in Reverence above all things)
  2. Walk in all his ways (Obey)
  3. Love Him
  4. Serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul
  5. Keep these commandments and statues that I'm giving you today
If we take a moment and reflect over the course of our life, we'll see how God has been there all along.
  • God was there, when you felt alone.
  • He was there in your triumphs and victories.
  • He was there when you lost someone close to you.
  • He was there when you prayed.
  • He was there when you cried.
And God was there holding you in His arms, loving you each and every day.
Happy Leap Day!
